Yes, you can. To do this, you're going to want to enter the system BIOS. When the DELL logo comes up, press the appropriate key to enter the BIOS. Under one of the tab, you'll find the section for Communications. You'll see the IRDA box, enable it on any COM Port for presently. (I wish I could do more, it's merely I'm on the computer I'd use to check the BIOS, so I can't do both at the same time)
